Water conservation includes the policies, plans, and strategies to preserve the natural resource of water, to ensure the hydro-sphere, forests, and the eco-system fulfill the future and existing human need. Population, family size and development, and affluence also influence how much water we use. The global population has grown substantially over the last 70 years, from just over two billion people in the late 1960s to more than six billion today. A large proportion of the added population is in developing countries where water resource management is critical to ensuring food and water security and social development.

 

Water conservation

means conserving water for future use and scientific and technological research. It is a cost-effective way to improve the quality of life for present and future generations. It helps maintain healthy ecosystems, sustain aquatic habitats, provide water for agricultural, fishing, and recreational industries, control pollution and promote a healthy economy. The need for water preservation can no longer be denied. Recent studies have shown that the declining freshwater levels are irreversible unless something is done to reverse the trend. In other words, if we do nothing, the problem will worsen and eventually will pose a serious risk to the survival of humans and wildlife.

 

There are some techniques for conserving water.

One such technique is called Washing. By conserving water through Washing, a certain amount of water is conserved in the system through a controlled washing process at least once a week. Every year, this is equivalent to about one liter of water. This is less than a glass of water. However, every site saves a lot of water and thus helps reduce pressure on the hydrophobic (water-consuming) systems, which is what contributes to the rate of decline of aquifers.

 

Another technique

for water, preservation is called Drip Drying. It is a method used in rural areas where every day there is a great demand for water from droughts or when it is very sunny and there is already a limited supply of freshwater. It saves on both scarce and available water and thus conserves the precious water in the dripline.

is crucial for every country as it is our only source of clean drinking water. We need to conserve water and do something to save the dwindling water resources for the future generation. We must not allow the daily consumption of water resources to become our only source as this will eventually lead to our extinction.
